Artist information

Founded in Tokio in 1997 this extraordinary percussion band with its perfectly choreographed rhythm-acrobatics on stage is a new dimension in percussion music and show. GOCOO`s unique mix of traditional Taiko drums and energetic rhythms make their concerts an unforgettable experience. Their music is frequently compared to trance, the beats of the eleven Japanese energetic drummers go further though, creeping into your body, taking control making you want to stand up and dance. Qualities that also the Gaming and Film industry recognized, leading to GOCOO being included in the soundtrack of the role play game “GOTHIC III” and the movie “MATRIX RELOADED”.

Audience and critics frenetically celebrated GOCOO on their European Festival Tours and concerts at renowned Venues worldwide. Recent highlights include shows at places such as Fuji Rock Japan, Rock for People Prague, Nuits du Sud Vence, Sziget Festival Budapest, Gurtenfestival Bern and the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay (Australia).

Japanese power-performers celebrated just another highlight in their band history. They were chosen to musically represent the Asian continent at the opening event of the UN Conference on Biological Diversity, performing side by side with Bob Geldof and Daniela Mercury in front of 5000 guests, including politicians, scientists and delegates.

NEWSWEEK Japan published a special under the headline "100 Japanese people who overcame cultural barriers and shine in the world", a list pf Japan's top 100 challengers, pioneers, heroes and icons. Besides celebrities like actor, filmmaker and entertainer Takeshi Kitano or historical figures such as Ieyasu Tokugawa, the band GOCOO was also included into the list as "their borderless sound, a mix of rock and ethnic music from around the world, is cherished by an international audience” NEWSWEEK wrote.

After a successful continent-spanning tour during the summer 2009 to 2011 that led them to Europe, Africa and South America, the drum sensation will now be back in time for the festival season 2012, presenting their highly explosive fireworks display for the senses. A must-see experience!

GOCOO are reinventing Taiko and it is hypnotizing!
